Review: ‘Angry Birds Go!’– A Mobile Game for Everyone
‘Angry Birds Go!’ is a mobile game from Rovio Entertainment Ltd. that brings the well-loved Angry Birds franchise into the world of kart racing. It takes the beloved characters, various levels of play, and all the high-speed action that come along with it and makes it accessible to all.
The game starts out fairly easy, with each race’s vaguely stitched-together courses providing simple and relatively straightforward racing opportunities. As a player progresses, however, the difficulty ramps up and incorporates more and more of the game’s components. These components include upgrades, power-ups, Pseudo Coins – a type of in-game currency – and a hint system when the track gets too difficult. It’s all joined together by the trustyraphics which have been a staple of the Angry Birds franchise since the beginning. The game also offers cross-platform play, with the ability to join races, friends and participate in tournaments with both pc and mobile users.
The gameplay is surprisingly intense, with tracks filled with obstacles, powerups, and traps. Driving with the help of tilt controls is often a challenge, as the birds handle better than the vehicles one would expect. The game also offers soundtracks and a variety of animations that have been polished by Rovio developers in order to maintain the energy of the series.
Although the game is loaded with content that will keep the player entertained, the repetitive nature of the level design can become monotonous after a while. It’s also a freemium game, meaning that microtransactions are in play for those that want to get ahead in the races. That being said, the game is still enjoyable without having to purchase in–game items.
Angry Birds Go! is an entertaining kart racing game that provides an exciting and enjoyable experience for casual and hardcore gamers alike. Even with its flaws, the vibrant visuals and well constructed courses will keep players coming back for more.
